"It's Safe to Vote Democrat Again"
From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, this country’s military strength – at least since the time of Truman – has relied on the hawks of the Grand Ole Party to help us pave our way to a safer world.

It’s a cliché that Democrats concentrate on a social agenda and that Republicans ensure that our military stands watch on our walls. Yes, it’s only a cliché – but how does a cliché become a cliché if there isn’t some truth in there?

Jimmy Carter gave us a worldwide reputation for being the nerdiest country in the schoolyard. While he sat in the Oval Office, students in Tehran pulled our military credibility down around our ankles. “Nightline,” which began as a daily recounting of the events in the long standoff, was the only silver lining in that black cloud, and only Ted Koppel would vote for Jimmy Carter again.

Johnson, bless his heart, had dragged us deeper into the jungles.

And some say that Kennedy, his command of a PT notwithstanding, had such ineffectiveness as an international and military leader that, years later, his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis has been reviewed as an exercise in “giving away the farm.”



Enter Wesley Clark – Rhodes Scholar, West Point valedictorian, and former NATO Supreme Commander. Yes, THAT Wesley Clark.

Holding his Bronze Star, Silver Star, Purple Heart and Presidential Medal of Freedom, this man is no shrinking violet. But with an Oxford University Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, he is not exactly a cowboy, either.

This is a man of depth and strength, of mental agility and of impressive resolve. At one point in a “likeability” assessment, a political pundit asked Americans voters: “Which candidate would you most wan with you in a cross-country road trip?”, but the question most relevant in post 9/11 is probably: “When you tuck in the kids and go to sleep at night, in whose leadership can you trust to keep your world, yourself and your family safe?”.

The answer is Wesley Clark – General Wesley Clark. He’s a Democrat. But it’s safe to vote Democrat again.
